"Every comedian I know, including myself, whether they will admit it or not, secretly wishes they were as good as Bob Newhart. " —Jerry Seinfeld
That stammer. Those basset-hound eyes. That bone-dry wit. There has never been another comedian like Bob Newhart. In this, his first audiobook ever, Newhart gives his brilliant and bemused twist on a multitude of topics, including flying, the trials of a family holiday in a Winnebago, and more serious subjects, such as golf. And, of course, there are side-splittingly funny stories from his life and career. Who else has a drinking game named after him? ("Hi, Bob!")
This isn't a memoir like most memoirs. It's a audiobook only Bob Newhart could have written, with his unique worldview and irrepressibly wry humor. Oh, and there's a fair bit of plain silliness, too.
Bob Newhart's television shows include The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart. (TV Guide named the final episode of Newhart one of the five most memorable moments in all of television history. ) He guest-hosted The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson 87 times. He has starred in major motion pictures ranging from Catch-22 to Elf. Newhart recently guest-starred on multiple episodes of Desperate Housewives and ER, for which he earned an Emmy nomination.
He has been awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1993, and was the subject of an American Masters documentary on PBS. And timed with this publication, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is releasing the first-ever DVD of his stand-up routine, entitled Bob Newhart Button Down Concert. He has been married to Virginia Quinn since 1963. They have four children and seven grandchildren.
